Pairing Purify With Foods
I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed Easter this year. My husband managed to swing a week off work, we took our eldest daughter to the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the first time and we were able to spend some much needed quality time with our extended family. My stomach also enjoyed Easter. Maybe a little too much, I’ll admit.
During one of our Easter catch-ups, my sister emphatically declared that if you’re going to indulge on sweet things, then a straight rooibos is the only tea to drink alongside. She claims that the soft nutty under tones of Rooibos tea act as a bit of a ‘flavour sponge’ that helps reduce the overwhelming effect that too much sugar can have on your tastebuds - and she’s not far wrong. Next time you’re enjoying some delectably sweet cake, try it with a side of Rooibos tea and you’ll see what she means.
Personally though, my go-to dessert tea is Peppermint. For me, the refreshing taste of Peppermint pairs perfectly with sweet foods and actually enhances their taste. Despite its minty quality though, it’s actually very versatile, tasting great with a range of savoury foods as well - minted peas for example, or roast lamb with mint jelly.
From a health and wellness perspective, Peppermint is also a really effective digestive cleanser and it’s one of the high performance ingredients you’ll find in Tea Now’s Purify Organic Detox Tea.
Tea Now’s Purify blend contains a powerful mix of Lemongrass, Dandelion Root, Tulsi, Lemon Peel and Blue Cornflower. Not only do these ingredients combine to create an irresistible mint-lemony freshness, but these organic ingredients also have the ability to support digestion and flush toxins out of our system.
Lemongrass in particular helps support the breakdown of food in our digestive tract, which naturally leads to better absorption of nutrients as well as an effective expulsion of waste. Peppermint acts as a muscle relaxant, allowing the organs to work freely, while dandelion root stimulates the liver and helps to produce better quantities of bile needed for digestion. Tulsi and Cornflower both help relieve water retention and assist in clearing the body of built-up toxins.
What dishes might we pair Purify with?
Whilst Purify really can be enjoyed at any time of the day (a personal favourite of mine is to sip a nice refreshing cup first thing in the morning), to reap maximum benefits, it’s best to drink this blend within 30 minutes after eating a main meal. You can provide added support to your digestive system by also choosing meals that are gut-friendly.
To give you an idea on what kinds of meals pair well with Purify, we’ve curated 10 wonderfully simple and yummy gut-friendly recipes that you might like to enjoy with a cup (or two!) of Purify Organic Detox Tea:
